Victoria Wetlandkeepers
July 11 @ 9:00 am – July 12 @ 12:00 pm

The B.C. Wildlife Federation’s Wetlands Education Program presents Wetlandkeepers, a free public workshop. Wetlands can filter water, mitigate flooding, and provide critical habitat to hundreds of species. Unfortunately, wetlands are disappearing at an alarming rate and need our protection.
The 2026 Victoria Wetlandkeepers workshop will bring together voices in conservation and stewardship across the Capital Regional District. Working together, participants will learn what wetlands are, identify key challenges to wetland conservation and restoration, and engage in collaborative discussions in support of improved wetland management.
When: July 11-12, 2026
- Saturday July 11 – 9 AM to 4:30 PM
- Sunday July 12 – 9 AM to 12 PM
Where: Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary, Victoria, BC
Cost: FREE ($100+ value)
BCWF’s Wetlandkeepers Course is a multi-day workshop that educates participants about wetland conservation. Wetlandkeepers is a mix of hands-in fieldwork and in-class presentations that provide participants with the technical skills to be wetland stewards in their own communities. Each workshop is unique, but will cover basics such as:
- Wetland values and losses
- Plant ID and soil sampling
- Wetland classification
This workshop is brought to you in partnership with Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary and the Bilston Watershed Habitat Protection Association.
This workshop was undertaken with the financial support of Wildlife Habitat Canada, the Royal Bank of Canada, and the Government of BC.
