Wetland Plants of British Columbia, Version 3 is now published and available in print copy as well as for download! This free resource is made possible thanks to our funders and to everyone who contributed photos that helped bring it to life.
Wetlands are essential ecosystems in British Columbia—rich in biodiversity and home to a wide variety species. This guide introduces common indicator species found in wetland habitats across the province and is designed to support users in confidently identifying wetland plants while exploring these vital ecosystems.
What’s New in Version 3?
This newly updated edition has been fully restructured for clarity and enhanced with new photo contributions from BCWF staff and members of the public. It’s intended for both new and experienced naturalists and features:
- Over 140 wetland plant species
- Photographs showing key characteristics
- A generalized distribution map of each species
- A list of common wetland site associations
- Key identification characteristics
- Comparisons to similar species
Our hope is that this guide fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of the province’s wetland flora. Through this book, we aim to encourage a meaningful connection to these ecosystems and support efforts to understand and protect them for future generations.
