Help bring a new wetland to life at Glen Valley Organic Farm in Abbotsford! Join fellow volunteers to control invasive Reed Canary Grass and plant native species, creating vital habitat for local plants and wildlife.

Help manage invasive species, and plant native species around a newly constructed wetland. Volunteers will be supporting a larger wetland restoration project at Glen Valley Organic Farm in Abbotsford. Volunteers will be supporting restoration by laying tarp to address invasive Reed Canary Grass and planting native species around newly constructed wetlands. These activities are all critical steps towards the creation of successful wetland habitat, supporting a variety of plants and animals.

This event has 2 different days available to volunteer! Join us for one or both days! 

When: October 23 -24, 2026

• Tarping & Planting – Friday, October 23 – 10 AM to 3 PM
• Planting Only – Saturday, October 24 – 10 AM to 3 PM

Where: 8550 Bradner Rd, Abbotsford, BC

Cost: FREE and Snacks will be provided!

Additional Information:

• All planting equipment will be provided (shovels, gloves)
• Volunteers must be onsite for a minimum of 3 hours and are asked to arrive by 10am, however, volunteers are not required to stay until 3pm
• Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather and come prepared with:
  • Rubber boots (please reach out to us with your shoe size at WEP@bcwf.bc.ca if you need to borrow some)
  • Pants and long sleeve shirts
  • Rain gear
  • Hat
  • OPTIONAL: gardening gloves & safety glasses (any type of glasses will work)
